Great iPhone Apps for Weddings

I’ve had an iPhone for a couple years now and an iPad for about a year and I’m finally playing around with some of the apps available for wedding planning.  Here’s some apps that I really like:

Wedding 911 by The Knot – this app works hand in hand with your profile on their website.  The only glitch that I’ve found so far is with the guest list manager.  When you click on that on your iPhone or iPad it says “coming soon!” so you still have to go online to TheKnot.com in order to access it.  But other than that it’s great!  You can access your budget, any favorites that you’ve saved and your checklist, all in the palm of your hand which is very handy on the go!

Fun Wedding – love this app for assistance with choosing music!  It has different categories in which you can search: Top 200 most requested songs, decades and Wedding dances.  Once you find some songs you like you can mark them as favorites so you can easily find them again later.

What are some apps that you have found really useful?

Summer Fun

I can’t believe Summer is over!  It went faster than usual this year!  But what better way to say goodbye to Summer than to share some photos from a Birthday party Luau?  My son had an absolute blast at his party!  A week before we changed the date from Sunday to Saturday due to Hurricane Irene’s pending arrival.  It poured all day on Saturday but the kids didn’t let it stop them from having fun! They played whiffle ball and jumping in the pool and thought it was great.  Here are a few photos from the party:

The watermelon shark was a huge hit with everyone and so much fun to create!

One Busy Month

July has been one busy month and I have to say I’m a little relieved it’s over, I need a break! Well what I really need is to get back to my normal, every day activities like blog reading, getting on twitter and posting here! I’m almost afraid to look at google reader and see just how many blogs I have to catch up on. This week alone has been a bit of a whirlwind which has kept me from getting on here. My older son needs minor surgery tomorrow so my mind has been with him and not many other places. But once things settle down with him which is supposed to be early next week I can get back on track. I have lots to share! There was a wedding I coordinated at the Roger Williams Casino in Providence Rhode Island, my dad’s company cookout and all sorts of other goodies! I’m thinking I may try to bring my laptop and see if there’s a slight chance I can get online @ the hospital while I wait, maybe I can catch up on all my blogs!

Wedding Shopping at the Supermarket??

Uh huh, you read the title right. In the lastest issue of Modern Bride there was a brief article about saving some money by shopping at the supermarket. It was actually quite a clever article. Here’s the lowdown of what it said but to see for yourself, it’s the April/May issue on page 148.

Dessert – mini cupcakes with pink icing and some berries added (the berries definitely made them so much cuter!)

Ring Pillow – stuffed animal from the toy aisle. This could actually be really cute especially if there’s a stuffed version of your favorite animal.

Welcome Bag – The “bag” was a flower pot and they stuffed goodies into it, it was cute!

Favors – Small jars of jelly with a ribbon tied around them.

Place cards – pears with a name tag attached to the stems

Bouquet – they mixed 3 bunches of flowers and wrapped the stems with ribbon. Ribbon really can make a huge difference!

There you have it but really it’s worth seeing the article for the little pictures, it’s cuter than just me describing it!

Bridal Expo was a Success!

Our bridal expo was a success once again! I realize it’s been weeks since the expo but things have been beyond hectic and I just haven’t had time to post.  I did get a little time away the weekend after and it was so wonderful and definitely needed.  We went skiing at Sunday River and the weather was perfect for skiing.  Our little weekend trip couldn’t have come at a better time.

Back to the expo…the fashion show went great, the dancing demonstration also went great, the vendors all had a blast and my table was a huge hit. All of which made me very happy!  I finally got pictures posted on the bridal expo website so feel free to check them out!

Help Me Support the Fight to End Breast Cancer!

I’ve committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and I’m determined to do everything I can to help put an end to it. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures.

I’ll be just one of many that will support the walkers who will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend, raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people. I can’t do it without your help. I hope that I can count on your support.

You can make a donation to my fundraising campaign by clicking HERE. Click on the pink “Donate Now” button. If you prefer to write a check, just contact me and I’ll send you the information and form.

"Spotlights" Start Tomorrow!

Starting tomorrow I will be doing posts about featured vendors participating in So Chic’s 3rd Annual Bridal Expo. These “spotlights” will be giving a little glimpse about each vendor and some of their services.

The Photo Shoot with Stefanie Lynn

In a post last week I said I would see if I could get a couple pictures that Stefanie took of us a few weeks back. Well here are two of my favroites from the photo shoot. She does such beautiful work it took me 2 weeks to decide which ones to get, but I finally decided!

Stefanie does portrait photography for maternity, newborns, infants, children, families and teens. And for all you ladies looking to do something special for your significant other she also does boudoir photography which I blogged about a while back.  You can read that post by clicking here.  To see all of Stefanie’s work visit both of her websites, Stefanie Lynn Photography & The Pouting Room.  To say her work is gorgeous is an understatement.

Carry Your Rings in Style

I love looking through bridal magazines but out of all of them I have to say my favorite is Martha Stewart Weddings. I love how many of their pages pop with color and I love the creativity behind their magazines. It gets me in touch with my inner Martha.

As I’ve been going through the Fall 2008 Issue I’ve come across many things and this is just one of them. It really caught my eye and I absolutely love it. It’s perfect for a Fall wedding, the colors are fabulous and the silk of the pillow just makes it so beautiful. Nicely done Martha!

Custom Designs

Let me start by saying this is going to be a short post as I’ve been so busy this week and I’ve also managed to mess up my back somehow so I’m not up to par with my normal productivity level. That being said, let me get to the point!

I’ve mentioned on several posts and in several places that I create custom designs, but I don’t believe I’ve ever elaborated on them. I do have “Custom Designs” and “Custom Invitations” galleries on my website however there are many other things I have created that are featured in other galleries so it may not be known that they’re actually my designs. Instead of going into a long drawn out description of each I’ll just do it in list form.

  • Invitations & Save-the-Date’s
  • Guest Books
  • Placecards
  • Menus
  • Programs
  • Toasting Flutes
  • Cake Knife & Server
  • Favors
  • Carved Pumpkins
  • Diaper Cakes
  • Onesie Centerpieces
  • CD Cases/CD’s
  • Table Cards or Tents
  • Luminaries
  • Napkin Rings
  • Signs – Carnival Signs & Tiki Theme Signs

These are just items I have made and in a couple weeks I’ll have a few more to add to the list, I can’t wait!
